Suspended Coffees

I love this!  The next time you are having a bad day, purchase a suspended coffee for someone else.  Giving is good for the soul.  Put a little love into the universe; the ripples are far-reaching.

This is an old Italian tradition.  Next time you buy a coffee, purchase an extra so that someone in need can enjoy.  Find out more about participating locations & encourage your favorite coffee shop to bring suspended coffee to your community.  Read more HERE.  Find on Facebook HERE.  If you are in the San Diego area, Divine Madman Coffee participates in Suspended Coffee at the Hillcrest Farmer’s Market on Sunday!  Broke Girls’ Coffee Bar also participates.

Coffee & Tea Collective

Ever on the quest for a great cup of coffee, I try to find the best everywhere I go.  I don’t drink a lot of coffee, but I love it, so when I indulge, I’m looking for quality.  This is just that kind of place, located in San Diego, CA.  Minimalist, no muss, no fuss.  Small-batch, roasted in-house, drip.  As close to Brooklyn-style super bougie coffee (I’m the worst offender, so I mean that endearingly) as I’ve found yet in San Diego.

Craftsman & Wolves

This is one of my favorite spots.  I kind of don’t even want to tell you about it, but it’s clear the cat is out of the bag.  I love the exposed brick & ceiling beams.  I happened to stop by recently on a rare free weekday (read: no line down the block) on a sunny day in the Mission.  There’s nothing better than a sunny day in the Mish, coffee, pastry, & good company.

C&W is the first endeavor by Outfit Generic, a 5-person foodie team helmed by former Quince exec pastry chef, William Werner.  Whether you are in the mood for sweet of savory, you will not be disappointed.  It also recently took top honors for Best Desserts in 7x7’s Eat + Drink Awards (ousting Tartine from its long-held top spot).

Simple & darling arrangements lined the table (see another shot HERE).

Tasty coffee.

Quotes that adorn the polished concrete walls.

Nearby Dolores Park overlooking my sweet city, San Francisco.  I’m telling you, there is no better place on a sunny afternoon.

SFO Terminal 2

I can’t stop gushing about my home airport, SFO Term 2.  Honestly, my vacation starts there.  I never mind having extra time to kill.  Airport stress & travel delays melt away here.

Favorite city.  Favorite airline. Favorite airport.

Green juice (kale, parsley, celery, apple, lemon) from Plant Cafe.  They make my favorite veggie burger on the planet.

Blue Bottle coffee (and Pinkberry too!)

Yoga room, complete w/ props; I use it to meditate pre-flight.

Also check out my other favorite haunts: Compass Books & Kiehl’s (oh, there’s a spa too.)

A friend introduced me to this little Tendernob gem, tucked away on Post between Jones & Leavenworth.  This tiny little space reminds me of some of my favorite storefront cafés in nyc.  The menu is small & changes not only daily, but by meal, & is based on what local fresh ingredients are available.  Their website & Twitter feed keep you up to date on menus.  There is one table inside & a few 2-tops outside.  The menu options are healthy, delicious & local.  They also serve delicious Verve coffee (not surprisingly, since the owners are former Blue Bottle manager/roaster) & (most importantly) they are serious about their tea, which they brew by the pot.  The staff was hospital & friendly, even getting me started on my morning java jolt before I ran across the street to accommodate their cash-only status.
